LIAM DE ROISTE (Cork City) on behalf of J.J. WALSH, Cork City) asked: "What has been done with regard to the Anti-Conscription Fund?"
In 1918, £252,000 was collected to oppose the Military Services (No. 2) Act 1918. Nearly all funds were held by parish priests as local trustees of the fund. Some £164,000 was returned to subscribers or applied to ecclesiastical charities.
CATHAL BRUGHA (Waterford Co.): "It was the Sinn Fein Organisation which carried out the work in connection with the Anti-Conscription Fund. The whole question of Finance will arise on a separate motion."
