Location: Mansion House Oak Room. Private meeting.
LIAM DE ROISTE (Cork City) asked: "Has the Executive considered the question of increased tillage in the country this year, and if so, will it give directions to the country during the next few weeks so that the acreage under crops may be increased while there is time?"
Calls to increase tillage levels were seen as a means to increase the levels of home-produced food and develop cattle industry. Many in Sinn Féin believed grazing farms were less productive and employed fewer people than tillage farms.
The MINISTER FOR HOME AFFAIRS replied that the Director of the Agricultural Department would submit a report at next Session.
