Seachtain na Gaeilge lectures
Leinster House hosted two special lectures to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge in this the centenary year of Dáil Éireann.
On 5 March, Professor Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh examined the establishment of Dáil Éireann in 1919 and the foundation of the democratic State in Ireland.
Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh is Emeritus Professor in History at NUI Galway and former vice-president of NUI Galway. He was appointed to the Council of State in 2012.
On 12 March, Cuan Ó Seireadáin looked at the importance of 6 Harcourt Street in the first meetings of Dáil Éireann in 1919.
