About Leinster House
Leinster House was built in the mid-18th century by James Fitzgerald, the First Duke of Leinster. In 1815 it was purchased by the Royal Dublin Society and in 1924 the State bought Leinster House from the Royal Dublin Society and the Oireachtas was able to begin adapting the House to its needs. The original Georgian House is currently undergoing extensive conservation and restoration works in order to preserve this historically and architecturally important building.
